The Illinois Fighting Illini and Nebraska Cornhuskers played a hard-fought game on Sunday in Champaign where every possession mattered—and Illinois stole a possession thanks to a horrendous no-call.

The Illini led 72–62 with 3:29 to play but saw their lead quickly evaporate as the Huskers finished the second half on an 11–1 run to force overtime. There was one thing that went the Illini’s way during that collapse, though.

With 2:55 left in regulation, redshirt senior Marcus Domask came down with an offensive rebound and was quickly trapped by two Nebraska defenders. As Domask tried to find a teammate to pass to, he went on a nice little stroll. It was as obvious a travel as you’ll ever see, but it didn’t draw a whistle.

After the game, though, Domask admitted that he got away with one.

Domask was able to joke around after the game because, despite the late collapse, Illinois ended up winning the game in overtime. Domask hit one of two free throws in the final seconds to send it to OT and finished the game with 19 points. But as that play near the end of regulation showed, sometimes the most important plays are the ones that don’t end up in the box score.
