Colorado coach Deion Sanders knows big, red-letter events.

With the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, Sanders played in a pair of Super Bowls. With the Atlanta Braves, he played in the World Series. With Florida State, he played in the Fiesta and Sugar Bowls. He even hosted Saturday Night Live in 1995.

Seemingly with Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and 49ers fresh in mind, Sanders told Lil Wayne on the rapper’s Apple Music radio show that he wanted to turn the Buffaloes’ spring game into a similar event.

“So for our spring game, we’re having a whole ‘Prime Weekend,’” Sanders said. “We’re having a fashion show Thursday, something for the boosters on Friday and the game on Saturday. We’re doing an afterparty with white, Black and Hispanic DJs. We’re gonna cover everybody.”

Sanders’ ambitious plans differ significantly from most colleges’ modest April scrimmages, and even Colorado’s spring game last year—which attracted 47,277 fans.

"After the game, we're doing something with the alumni. But maybe at halftime of the game, or right after the game on the rooftop, we're gonna have somebody. It's going down."
