Caitlin Clark Had Such a Classy Message About Her Iowa Career After Breaking Pete Maravich’s NCAA Record

The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball star is a true legend.

Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark made college basketball history on Sunday when she broke Pete Maravich’s all-time scoring record by an NCAA Division I player. What made her performance even better was that it came in a big win over No. 2-ranked Ohio State. 

While Nike found a very cool way to celebrate Clark’s record-breaking career, the junior guard, who will leave for the WNBA after the season, shared a powerful message about her time with the Hawkeyes and how she hopes to be remembered by college basketball fans. 

“A record is a record,” Clark said. “I don’t want it to be the reason people remember me. I hope people remember me for the way I played with a smile on my face, my competitive fire. They can remember the wins but also the fun me and my teammates had together.”

Clark and the Hawkeyes, ranked No. 6 in the nation, take the court next at 6:30 p.m. ET Friday at the Big Ten Tournament in Minneapolis. No. 2-seeded Iowa will oppose the winner of No. 7 seed Penn State and No. 10 seed Wisconsin.
