LSU star Angel Reese was named the 2023–24 SEC Player of the Year on Tuesday after enjoying another dominant regular season.

The junior forward also was named to the All-SEC first team and the SEC All-Defensive Team. Reese led the conference in scoring (19.1 points per game) and rebounding (13 per game) for the second time in her collegiate career. She’s the first player to lead the SEC in both categories in consecutive seasons since Vanderbilt’s Wendy Scholtens in 1988–89 and 1989–90.

She followed up her NCAA record of 34 double-doubles in 2022–23 with 20 this season, which included nine in a row at one point.

Reese wasn’t the only Tiger to win an SEC honor, as newcomer Mikaylah Williams won the SEC Freshman of the Year award.

LSU (26–4), ranked No. 8 in the nation, open play in the SEC tournament on Friday at 6 p.m. ET in Greenville, S.C. The second-seeded Tigers will play the winner of Thursday’s matchup between seventh-seeded Auburn and No. 10 seed Arkansas.
