Indiana coach Mike Woodson will return next year despite a disappointing 2023-24 season, Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star reported Wednesday.

Woodson received a pay raise before this year, which includes buyout protections if Indiana chose to move on from him, according to Osterman.

Woodson is currently in his third year as Indiana’s coach, leading the Hoosiers to the NCAA tournament in each of his first two seasons. Indiana is 60–39 under Woodson since 2021, including 2–2 in the NCAA tournament and 3–2 in the Big Ten tournament.

However, after back-to-back 20-win seasons, Indiana is currently a disappointing 16–13 with two games left on the schedule. It was up in the air whether Indiana would want to make a change, but the Hoosiers seem to have chosen to keep Woodson for at least another season.

Woodson previously spent his coaching career in the NBA, leading the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks in two stints as a head coach. The Indiana alum also played in 104 games for the Hoosiers as a player between 1976 and ’80.
