Duke Starting Forward Mark Mitchell Announces Intention to Enter Transfer Portal
Duke forward Mark Mitchell has announced on Tuesday that he plans to enter the transfer portal this offseason after two seasons with the Blue Devils.
His Duke career will most likely have ended in the Elite Eight last weekend when the Blue Devils lost to NC State in the NCAA tournament.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Duke University and all those who supported me over the past few years,” Mitchell said to On3 in a statement. “I am deeply appreciative of the impact this community has had on my life, and it will forever remain dear to my heart. Having said that, I have made the decision to enter my name into the transfer portal.”
The former five-star recruit averaged 11.6 points, 6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in the 33 games he appeared in during the 2023–24 season.
Mitchell's plan to leave the Blue Devils program comes one day after UConn won its second consecutive NCAA title. Duke, however, opened as a betting favorite for some sportsbooks to win the 2025 NCAA title.
