Florida's Jac Caglianone Hits Home Run in Ninth Straight Game, Tying NCAA Record
The University of Florida baseball team may have lost to the Vanderbilt Commodores on Friday night, but Gators first baseman and pitcher Jac Caglianone keeps on winning. Caglianone, who had hit a home run in eight consecutive games entering the contest against the Commodores, kept his dinger streak going, belting a solo shot to right field in the top of the sixth inning at Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tn.
Caglianone has now hit a home run in nine straight games, which ties the NCAA record, previously set by University of Nevada infielder Tyler Bosetti back in 2021.
Caglianone is undoubtedly one of the best hitters in the nation, as he has posted a .407/.497/.860 slash line with 22 homers, good for second in the country. But the Tampa, Fl. native is more than just a slugger.
Caglianone has also recorded four wins, a 3.89 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings pitched in 2024. The two-way star is ranked fifth on MLB.com's list of the Top 100 prospects in the 2024 MLB draft.
Caglianone will get a chance to rewrite the record books during Saturday's series finale against Vanderbilt, scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
