North Carolina's RJ Davis, the 2023–24 ACC Player of the Year, will return for a fifth and final season with the Tar Heels, CBS Sports Matt Norlander reported on Tuesday. An official announcement from Davis has not been made yet.

This news came shortly after it was reported that UNC guard Seth Trimble was withdrawing from the transfer portal to remain with the Tar Heels for another season. Guard Elliot Cadeau is also expected to stay as well, Norlander added. UNC will introduce five-star recruit Ian Jackson to the backcourt in 2024 as well.

Davis led the team in points per game (21.2), and averaged 3.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists while being named a consensus All-American. He was the team's highest scorer in UNC's first and second round wins against Wagner and Michigan State, respectively, in the NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels lost in the Sweet 16 to Alabama.
