Alabama Baseball Commit Myles Upchurch on The Joe Gaither Show
Happy hump day on "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" let's take a little break away from football and interview another recruit.
This time we're happy to welcome Myles Upchurch out of Odenton, MD. Upchurch is a class of 2025 pitcher who committed to the Crimson Tide to play baseball over schools like Tennessee, Texas, Georgia and others.
He lets the audience know his strikeout pitch and his development in baseball and why he chose the University of Alabama. Alabama pitching coach Jason Jackson has already given him a tip that he's using in prep baseball and he has a surprising "out" pitch despite being able to touch the 90s on the gun.
Upchurch describes his hometown and lets us know who his favorite MLB and NFL teams are as he's right in the middle of Baltimore and Washington. The junior in high school likes to keep it simple, but he has a few wholesome hobbies off the diamond.
The 6-4 pitcher tells the audience what he gains out of playing quarterback and basketball at St. Albans and we even discuss the Alabama Crimson Tide's playoff outcome in football.
Check out the episode to find out how his visit went in Tuscaloosa and what he said to coach Rob Vaughn that almost cost him a scholarship offer.
We finish the program with a little bit of college basketball talk as the Crimson Tide defeated Arkansas State on Monday night. How can we get more people to come to Coleman Coliseum to support this program? How much can we draw from a win over an inferior opponent?
