Alabama Baseball Continues Perfect Midweek Streak Against Troy
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Taking care of business.
That's exactly what Alabama Baseball continues to do in the midweek this season. The Crimson Tide (22-8, 3-6 SEC) defeated the Troy Trojans 10-2 on Tuesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
"Really good win for us," head coach Brad Bohannon said. "Troy's got a really good club. Anytime you win 20 games at this point in the year, you're doing something right. […] We came out ready to play. Just a really well-rounded game for us."
Alabama is now 9-0 in midweek games this season after dropping five such games last season.
The Crimson Tide racked up 10 hits — led by three from Tommy Seidl. Alabama also drew eight walks and had two free passes by the way of the hit-by-pitch.
Bryce Eblin led the Crimson Tide with three RBIs — a bizarre stat considering he went 0-for-3 at the plate.
It hasn't been the best season so far for Jacob McNairy, who entered Tuesday night's game with an 5.76 ERA. He was much more sharp against the Trojans (20-10, 4-5 Sun Belt), throwing 4.2 innings and allowing just one run. He walked just one batter and struck out four Troy hitters.
Alabama went 6-for-8 (.750) in leadoff situations.
The Crimson Tide will continue its eight-game homestand with a weekend set against Mississippi State this weekend. The Bulldogs are currently tied for last in the SEC with Georgia and Ole Miss.
With a much-needed home sweep, Alabama would move to 6-6 in the conference.
