Alabama Baseball Drops Series Against LSU with 12-8 Loss in Game 2
It was a high-spirited affair that saw a lot of runs scored and Brad Bohannon being ejected from the game. In the end though, LSU defeated the Crimson Tide 12-8.
Jim Jarvis put Alabama on the board early as he hit a leadoff home run in the first inning. Tommy Seidl then hit a double to right field and Andrew Pinckney reached on an error from third base.
With two runners on and no outs, Dom Tamez hit another double that drove Seidl home to give the Tide an early 2-0 lead.
LSU got a run back in the second inning thanks to a fielder's choice, and the score was 2-1 after two innings.
The third inning was where Alabama piled it on. With two runners on and two outs, Caden Rose hit an RBI double. LSU decided to take a mound visit after Jaxson West was walked, but when Ed Johnson stepped into the box, a wild pitch allowed another run to score.
Johnson then drove home the final two runs of the inning with a single up the middle to give Alabama a 6-1 lead.
That lead was short-lived, however, as LSU's Tommy White hit a three-run home run in the bottom half of the inning to close the gap to two runs.
In the fourth inning, Andrew Pinckney hit his second home run of the series after sending one over the right field wall.
It seemed like Alabama was in control en route to tying the series, but LSU's offense piled it on in the back half of the game, scoring seven runs in the final three innings to take the game 12-8.
It was a prime opportunity to steal one on the road against the top team in the country, but now Brad Bohannon's squad is in danger of being swept in Baton Rouge.
The series finale will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
