STARKVILLE, MS - Alabama aims to get back in the win column against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Davis-Wade Stadium. 

Follow along for live updates before, during, and after the game: 

Pregame

  • Junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was not on the field with the other quarterbacks as they took the field for warmups 60 minutes before kickoff. 
  • Tagovailoa has now appeared from the locker room onto the field for warmups. 
  • It is a chilly morning here in Starkville as the temperature is 42 degrees. The high is expected to reach 54 degrees. 
  • Sophomore kicker Joseph Bulovas attempted a 51-yard field goal in warmups and missed wide left. 
  • The captains for today's game is Tagovailoa, defensive end Raekwon Davis, and wide receiver DeVonta Smith. 
  • The Crimson Tide have brought only eight defensive linemen to Starkville. 
  • Scooby Carter is noticeably absent from the group of defensive backs on the field for warmups. 
  • Mississippi State announces these players will miss today's game due to violation of team rules: DT Lee Autry, LB Willie Gay, Jr., LT Kwatrivous Johnson, and FS Marcus Murphy.
  • Quarterback Tommy Stevens is starting for the Bulldogs. Fans should expect to see Garret Shrader in there as well throughout the game. 
  • It appears Tagovailoa will indeed start for the Crimson Tide today, as he is taking all of the first team reps. 
  • Punter Ty Perine booms a punt into the end zone as the team runs back into the locker room, ending warmups. 
  • Kickoff is moments away and there are still plenty of empty seats.
  • Mississippi State has won the toss and elect to defer to the second half.  

First Quarter

  • Alabama will start the game on their own 43-yard line after an offside on the Bulldogs on the opening kickoff. 
  • Tagovailoa is under center and the first play is a toss to wide receiver Henry Ruggs III for a five-yard gain. 
  • Two plays after wide receiver Jerry Jeudy caught a 38-yard pass from Tagovailoa on a 3rd and 11, running back Najee Harris scores a touchdown on a 10-yard run. The play is under further review.
  • Ruling on the field stands. PAT from Bulovas is good. 7-0 Alabama with 13:08 remaining in the opening quarter. 
  • After a fair catch, Mississippi State will take over at their own 25-yard line. 
  • Tommy Stevens' first pass of the game is intercepted by linebacker Shane Lee. Alabama takes over at the Bulldogs' 19-yard line. 
  • On the following play, Tagovailoa finds a wide open Harris for a 19-yard touchdown. The wheel route works to perfection. 
  • PAT is good from Bulovas. 14-0 Alabama with 12:54 left in the first. 
  • Another fair catch for the Bulldogs on the kickoff and they will start on their own 25. 
  • Running back Kylin Hill picks up seven yards on first down and on second down, Stevens keeps it for a draw to pick up a gain of 27, moving into Alabama territory. 
  • Davis sacks Stevens, but is called for a facemark penalty. First down Bulldogs at the Crimson Tide's 22 yard-line. 
  • After the play, Davis walked off the field gingerly with a few of the trainers. He stepped into the medical tent for just a moment and is now back on the field after missing two plays. 
  • Defensive linemen DJ Dale is now slowly walking off the field after appearing to hurt a lower body extremity. 
  • Hill punches it into the end zone from the one-yard line for a Bulldogs' touchdown. PAT is good. 14-7 Alabama with 8:37 remaining. 
  • Dale was in the medical tent for approximately two minutes and is now on the exercise bike on the sideline. 
  • Another short kickoff for the Bulldogs puts the ball at the Crimson Tide's 29-yard line. 
  • Tagovailoa is sacked by linebacker Erroll Thompson for a loss of eight yards. 
  • Tagovailoa finds Jeudy for a pick up 18 yards on a third and long for a first down into Bulldogs territory. 
  • Penalties are hurting this Crimson Tide drive as Jeudy is called for a face-mask and center Landon Dickerson is called for a personal foul. 
  • Harris catches a pass from Tagovailoa for 23 yards on second and 28 to make it third and five to go. The Bulldogs bail the Crimson Tide out with a pass interference call to make it first and goal.
  • Two plays later, Harris rumbles his way into the end zone from five yards out for a touchdown. PAT is good from Bulovas. 21-7 Alabama with 3:22 left.  
  • The head referee today is Ken Williamson. 
  • Mississippi State will take over on their own 25 after the fair catch.
  • After a three and out, the Bulldogs are forced to punt. Alabama will resume on offense at their own 31 after a 45-yard punt. 
  • Tight end Jahleel Billingsley catches a pass from Tagovailoa and runs it 19 yards to midfield.

Second Quarter

  • On the first play of the quarter, running back Brian Robinson makes his first appearance of the day. He picks up five yards for an Alabama first down. 
  • Tagovailoa hurls a deep ball toward the end zone for Jaylen Waddle, who brings it in for a 35-yard touchdown. PAT from Bulvoas is good. 28-7 Alabama with 14:15 remaining in the quarter. 
  • The Crimson Tide defense forces another three and out. Mississippi State punts it to the 30-yard line. 
  • Tagovailoa finds Smith down the sideline for a gain of 31 yards to put the Crimson Tide in Bulldogs territory. 
  • Harris scores his fourth touchdown of the day on a run from five yards out. PAT is good from Bulovas. 35-7 Alabama with 6:08 remaining in the half. 
  • His four touchdowns in one half ties DeVonta Smith's school record, which came earlier this season against Ole Miss. 
  • A roughing the passer penalty on safety Xavier McKinney keeps the Bulldogs drive alive. 
  • The penalty does not come back to bite as the Bulldogs punt once again. Alabama takes over at their own 26-yard line. 
  • On a third and four, Tagovailoa has to throw the ball away after being chased and taken down by Leo Lewis and Marquiss Spencer. 
  • He stays on the ground for a few minutes and now the cart is taking off the field and into the locker room. 
  • The injury is unknown at this time, but stay tuned for more information as it comes in. 
  • Alabama punts it to the 25-yard line and the Bulldogs will take over from there. 
  • After a holding penalty on first down, the Bulldogs' offense continues to stay stagnant and fail to move the chains. 
  • Davis is down again and taken off the field by trainers after his tackle on Stevens. It looks to be a lower body issue. 
  • On the final play of the quarter, Mississippi State punts and Waddle takes it across midfield into Bulldogs' territory. 
  • Halftime: Alabama 35 Mississippi State 7
  • After the cart dropped Tagovailoa off in the locker room for x-rays, it came back on the field for Davis. More information to come shortly. 
  • It has been confirmed. Hip injury for Tagovailoa, not his ankle.
  • Harris' three touchdowns in the first quarter was the most ever in the opening quarter for any Crimson Tide player.

Third Quarter

  • The Bulldogs will receive the opening kick of the second half. Mississippi State will start on their own 25. 
  • Stevens gets the Bulldogs' offense inside the red zone, but Hill is stopped short of the first down marker on fourth down. Play is under review. It is confirmed.  
  • Alabama has the ball at their own 15. 
  • Mac Jones has entered the game, replacing Tagovailoa. His first pass is complete to Jeudy for a 10-yard gain. 
  • After a 26-yard pass to Ruggs, the Crimson Tide are inside the Bulldogs 15-yard line. 
  • Jones throws another pass to Ruggs for a seven yard gain and he is down on the ground after the tackle. He is now gingery walking off with some trainers. The Crimson Tide can not afford anymore injuries. 
  • Bulovas is out there to attempt a 21-yard field goal. It is good. 
  • Alabama 38 Mississippi State 7 with 7:28 remaining in the third period. 
  • Kickoff by Bulovas fair-caught, MSU starts at its own 25.
  • Stevens pass complete to Farrod Green for 30 yards to the UA 39.
  • MSU running back Kylin Hill injured on the play.
  • MSU uses its first timeout of the half. It is currently fourth and 11 on the UA 40.
  • Day punts the ball 28 yards to the UA 12. Alabama takes over on offense.
  • Mac Jones completes a pass to DeVonta Smith for an 18-yard gain. 1st and 10 Alabama on its own 33 yard line.
  • Perone punts to the MSU 8, a 37-yard punt. First and 10 for the Bulldogs with 1:06 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
  • Stevens rushes 12 yards to the MSU 23 for a first down.

Fourth Quarter

  •  Stevens scrambles to the left for a 17-yard gain to the MSU 37. Offsides penalty called on Jennings is declined.
  • Stevens completes a pass to Stephen Guidry for a 10-yard completion to the UA 49 for a first down.
  • Gibson rushes for a five-yard gain, bringing it to fourth down and six to go.
  • Stevens pass is incomplete. Alabama ball at their own 30. 
  • Brian Robinson has 29 yards on three carries on this current drive for the Crimson Tide. 
  • Third and eight upcoming for Alabama on the 26 yard line. 
  • Jones' pass is incomplete and was intended for running back Keilan Robinson. 
  • With 4:35 left in the game, the Crimson Tide will go for it on fourth down.
  • Jones throws it toward the end zone for wide receiver Slade Bolden and it falls incomplete. Mississippi State ball.
  • The Bulldogs' drive stalls at the Crimson Tide's 46-yard line after linebacker Ben Davis sacks Stevens for an eight-yard loss. 
  • Now at quarterback for the Crimson Tide, Taulia Tagovailoa. 
  • Robinson runs for nine yards and time will expire on the clock. 
  • Alabama defeats Mississippi State 38-7.
