Alabama Player to Watch in Fantasy Football Week 7: Julio Jones

When it comes to picking a former Alabama player to watch, Julio Jones could be the selection every week.
Last week he returned from a hamstring injury to catch eight passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns for the Atlanta Falcons.
He has 57 career games with 100-plus receiving yards, the fourth-most in NFL history, and 34 games with 125-plus, the thirst most.
Atlanta is home to Detroit, and the Falcons have won four of the last five meetings between them. Jones has had at least nine catches and 150 yards in both of his last two games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
However, there's another reason why Crimson Tide fans should keep an eye on Jones, trade rumors.
They perked up when Jones missed a game from his injury, along with the Falcons firing both general manager Thomas Dimitroff after 13 years and coach Dan Quinn.
Team president and CEO Rich McKay has taken over football operations, at least for now, a role he previously held from 2003 until 2008.
Atlanta is already over the salary cap for 2021 (set at $198.2 million) and is looking at having another high draft pick. Owner Arthur Blank has indicated that he won’t stand in the way of any personnel decisions, but somehow the Falcons will have to trim the payroll.
The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 3, which is also Election Day, which gives McKay some time to figure out a direction. But if the right offer comes along, who knows? Jones is already 31 years old. Last year he landed signed a three-year, $66 million contract extension.
