The first Heisman Trophy winner at Alabama told reporters in Baltimore this week that he's trying to get to 10,000 career rushing yards, and 100 touchdowns in the National Football League.

He has a ways to go as they're lofty goals. Despite already being 30 years old, which is the age that most running backs start to slow down, he needs 2,891 rushing and 29 touchdowns.

Only 31 running backs have reached the former, and 12 have done the latter. Just 11 have done both: Emmitt Smith, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marcus Allen, Marshall Faulk, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Adrian Peterson, John Riggins,  Barry Sanders and Franco Harris (Shaun Alexander had the touchdowns, but just missed on the yards).

Considering that he's averaging about eight touchdowns a season, Ingram needs about three more seasons after this one, and he also needs to pick up his pace in 2020.

It's early, but through two games this season he had 19 carries for 84 rushing yards and one touchdown. Last year he topped 1,000 rushing yards for the third time in his career with 1,018 yards, with 10 rushing touchdowns, and also caught 26 passes for 247 yards with another five scores.

Baltimore set the NFL single-season rushing record with 3,296 yards on a league-high 596 carries for an average of 206.0 yards.

The Ravens are again running the ball, averaging 170.5 yards per game, ranked fourth in the league, but the backfield is a lot more crowded. Ingram is rotating with Gus Edwards and rookie J.K. Dobbins, plus quarterback Lamar Jackson is leading the team in rushing so far.

“Mark definitely is the leader of the group, and he helps set a lot of that stuff up," running backs coach Matt Weiss told Raven Country. "You’d have to ask them for more details. I definitely respect the question too, in terms of the age and all that, but truly, I think Mark is ascending."

Baltimore has a showcase game with reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City on Monday night, and one has to think that A) The Ravens won't be holding anything back, and B) the best way to keep Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the sideline is by controlling the ball.

Ingram had 135 scrimmage yards the last time he faced the Chiefs, and had two-plus touchdowns in two of his last three Monday night games.
