The Alabama soccer team fell 2-1 to Vanderbilt during its final game of the regular season.

With the result, Alabama finished seventh in the league standings, and get a rematch with Auburn in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 3. The Tigers pulled off a 3-2 double-overtime upset in Tuscaloosa last week.

"Our game from here on out is a one-game season," Crimson Tide coach Wes Hart said. "We play Auburn, which is a matchup that I love to play and got to believe they’re going to be excited about that too. It should be a fun first round in Orange Beach.

"We’re going to put this one behind us and move on.”

Vanderbilt had the better of the match early on, scoring two goals in five minutes through Paola Ellis. Her 11th- and 15th-minute goals seemed to kill the game before it had even begun for the Crimson Tide.

Casey Wertz scored Alabama’s lone goal in the 23rd minute but the Crimson Tide couldn't find its equalizer.

Alabama outshot Vanderbilt 14-11, and equaled Vanderbilt’s corner count of five. Freshman goalkeeper AJ Crooks collected five saves in her best efforts to keep Alabama in the game.
