TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — After a week off, Alabama women's basketball will return to the court on Sunday night when it travels to face Missouri.

Kristy Curry's squad finished the first half of conference play with a 5-4 record and sit fifth in the standings, highlighted by a three-game winning streak that saw the Crimson Tide defeat Ole Miss on the road.

However, the losses Alabama suffered were tough. Blowout losses to Tennessee and LSU and a 13-point loss to South Carolina were one thing, but arguably the toughest loss was the one that was smallest in margin: a 66-65 loss to Missouri at home.

"Like coach said, it's a new opportunity," Brittany Davis said. "We just have to take it to them on the road and be ready to compete."

Davis played well in the first game against Missouri, scoring 26 points including 4-for-9 on 3-pointers. She was one of three double-digit scorers for Alabama, but the bench was a major difference as the Tigers outscored the Crimson Tide 38-9. Two players that did not have a good scoring night were Megan Abrams, who hasn't played since January 8, and Karly Weathers, who's gone cold since the start of conference play.

"It's the SEC," Curry said regarding Weathers. "A lot of times, what people don't understand is that freshman year, when you go from nonconference to conference, it's a whole 'nother level."

A positive from Alabama's last matchup against Missouri was the containment of Hayley Frank, who only scored nine points. But the senior forward has been on a tear, passing the 20-point mark in three of her last four games.

With the SEC Tournament a month away, Alabama has a favorable schedule as the second half contains teams in the bottom half of the conference.

The Crimson Tide will take on Missouri in Columbia on Sunday. Tipoff is at 4 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
