Alabama softball had one of its best weekends at the plate in the series win over Ole Miss in the regular season finale, and a big part of that success was thanks to Larissa Preuitt.

Because of her performance over the three games, Preuitt has been named SEC Softball Freshman of the Week. She is the first Alabama player to win this award since 2020.

The freshman outfielder from Hartselle, Alabama went 8-for-11 against the Rebels with three doubles and three RBIs and a stolen base. She game out of the gates hot with a 4-for-4 game in the series opener, and stayed hot at the plate and moved up in the lineup as the series went on. She improved her batting average more than 30 points on the weekend from .237 to .269.

In media availability leading up to the series, Preuitt said she wanted to be more scrappy at the plate. It paid off for the Crimson Tide this weekend.

It marks the fifth weekly award for an Alabama player from the Southeastern Conference this season alongside Montana Fouts' four SEC Pitcher of the Week awards. Preuitt's award is the 24th time a Crimson Tide player has won SEC Freshman of the Week.

Alabama has now wrapped up regular season play with a 38-17 (14-10 SEC) record and earned the 5-seed in the SEC Tournament. The team will open play at the tournament in Arkansas Wednesday against the winner of the 12/13 game between Missouri and Mississippi State.
