BamaCentral Courtside: No. 2 Alabama 86, Arkansas 83
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama turned one of its worst offensive performances into its best in Saturday's 86-83 win over Arkansas. The team had its worst 3-point shooting game since the season opener, going 3-for-22 from beyond the arc.
Despite a furious comeback from Arkansas over the final few minutes, Alabama made just enough shots from the floor and free throw line to hold on for the win.
The Crimson Tide's depth was on display as different players stepped up at different moments. Noah Clowney had his third double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Charles Bediako fouled out and only had six points, but he had 10 rebounds, including four offensive boards that led to second-chance points for the Crimson Tide.
Mark Sears struggled from the field, but was clutch from the free throw line, shooting 90 percent, to help put the game away. When Alabama was floundering from 3, Dom Welch made the team's lone 3-point shot in the first half.
Jahvon Quinerly stepped up in the second half and started in place of the struggling Jaden Bradley and was a big part of Alabama's offensive run to open the second half. Quinerly finished with 16 points and seven assists, with 12 of the points coming in the second half.
And of course, Brandon Miller was once again Alabama's leading scorer, finishing with 24 points, including 17 in the second half.
It was also Senior Day inside Coleman Coliseum with special celebrations and video tributes for Adam Cottrell, Noah Gurley and Welch after the game.
With Mississippi State beating Texas A&M Saturday afternoon, Alabama has now clinched at least a share of the regular season title and can win outright with a win over Auburn at home Wednesday night.
