BamaCentral Courtside: No. 4 Alabama 101, Vanderbilt 44
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — For 40 minutes, it was the Harlem Globetrotters against a middle school basketball team.
In reality, it was the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Vanderbilt Commodores. But the result wasn't much different.
The Crimson Tide (19-3, 9-0 SEC) set the program record for winning margin in an SEC game. It was also the worst beating in the conference since 2003.
From the jump, Alabama was angry — and it showed. The Crimson Tide wanted to put its name back on the map as one of the top teams in the country — and it did just that.
Brandon Miller did his usual, scoring 22 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Nimari Burnett showed the country that his wrist is completely fine — scoring 16 points on 4-for-7 shooting from 3-point range. Rylan Griffen, Noah Gurley and Charles Bediako all scored in double figures as well.
As a team, Alabama knocked down 19 shots from deep at 46%. The Crimson Tide shot a season-high 59% from the field as well.
Truly, everything came together for an Alabama team that was desperate for a big performance after the ugly loss on Saturday against Oklahoma.
Next up for the Crimson Tide is a team it already beat by 40 this season — the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge. Alabama defeated LSU 106-66 at Coleman Coliseum on Jan. 14.
