Brad Bohannon Wins 150th Game as Alabama Baseball Blows Out Alabama State

Alabama scored 21 runs as the Crimson Tide remained perfect to to start the season.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— On a rainy night that saw Alabama set a new season-high in runs scored, the Crimson Tide defeated the Alabama State Hornets 21-7.

"Who would've thought that we would score 21 runs in six innings and Colby Shelton and Drew Williamson didn't get a hit," head coach Brad Bohannon said after the game. "It was a really good offensive performance for us. We hit five home runs last night and four more tonight. Really happy about that."

The offense was once again spread out as eight different players got a hit for the Crimson Tide. Tommy Seidl led the charge with a 4-for-4 night that included a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning and four runs batted in.

"I'm just seeing the baseball pretty well," Seidl said. "Like Jim Jarvis said, sometimes things like that just kind of happen."

Jarvis also had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a walk and a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to push Alabama over the 20-run mark. Jarvis has homered in back-to-back game and when he was asked about it, he simply said it was "luck."

Alabama scored in every inning except one, including five-run innings in both the second and the sixth.

Alabama State only scored seven runs, but kept pace with 11 hits compared to the Tide's 15. Ian Matos and Ali Lapread also homered in the game as the Hornets scored in four of the seven innings.

"They put the ball in play," Bohannon said. "We only punched them out four times. The way baseball is trending when you look at the big league level and it bleeds down to the SEC, you gotta get some strikeouts.

"They did a good job of putting the ball in play and we did a good job on defense which helped slow them down."

With the win, Alabama improved to 14-0. The Tide's next opponent will be a home weekend series against Columbia. The first game will be Friday at 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
