COLLEGE STATION, Tex. — Sometimes the statistics don't tell the whole story.

Alabama didn't play a perfect game at Texas A&M on Saturday, far from it. However, there were a number of things about the game, including special teams, the offensive line, and, yes, even the defense.

Overall, Tua Tagovailoa threw four touchdowns and Alabama's offense kept rolling in the Crimson Tide's first game at No. 1 this season with a 47-28 victory.

In the process, Tagovailoa became Alabama's career passing touchdowns leader with his second if the game, surpassing A.J. McCarron. He finsihedd the game with 27 on the season.

Alabama (6-0, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) trailed briefly in its first game this season against a ranked opponent, but Tagovailoa then connected on three third-down touchdown play the Crimson  Tide took control of the game.

The junior quarterback spread the ball around, with all of his touchdown strikes going to different players. His two longest of the day were a 47-yarder to DeVonta Smith in the first quarter and a 33-sideline bomb to Henry Ruggs III.

Running back Najee Harris rushed for 114 yards.

Jaylen Waddle scored Alabama's first touchdown on a 31-yard catch-and-run when he shook four defenders, and he also had a big day on punt returns with four for 128 yards.
