Did you notice?

• Alabama volleyball defeated South Alabama in five-set exhibition at Foster Auditorium. The Crimson Tide took a 2-0 match lead, 25-22 and 25-13, before the Jaguars came back and evened the match (25-21 and 25-20). After being tied in the final season, Alabama closed out the match with a 6-2 run to win 15-11. Redshirt junior Ashley Homan led the Crimson Tide with 14 kills and freshman Alyiah Wells had 11. New coach Lindsey Devine used 18 players.

• Justin Thomas will go into the final round of the Tour Championship at -12, with a one-shot lead over Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka, and two strokes ahead of Xander Schauffele. Thomas completed just five holes Saturday before play was suspended due to inclement weather. The round was called after, two lightning strikes hit East Lake, with six people injured. The Golf Channel will show the remainder of the third round, then return for its regular schedule for the final round from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. CT. NBC will show the final holes from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m.

• 4-star Central-Phenix City wide receiver E.J. Williams committed to Clemson. He’s rated the fourth-best player in the state for the Class of 2020 by the 247 Sports Composite. The top 10 players in Alabama have all made commitments, seven with the Crimson Tide.

• Alabama gymnastics was the only program to finish among the top 10 by team grade point average and in the top 12 in the final national ranking during the 2019 season, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) revealed. The Crimson Tide also led the nation with 89 percent of its 2019 roster earning Scholastic All-America honors.

• Crimson Tide outfielder T.J. Reeves hit .324 in 50 games (182 at-bats) for the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League this summer. He also had 12 doubles and 10 home runs – both tied for the team lead – and 39 runs.
