She had surgery Thursday morning performed by Dr. Lyle Cain of Andrews Sports Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. “She is one of the most dedicated and hard-working players we’ve ever had in our program,” Crimson Tide coach Patrick Murphy said in a statement. “We will be with her every step of the way in her rehab process this fall and in the spring.”

• Nick Saban was one of 22 coaches named a semifinalist for the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year award.

• Saban announced during his radio show that junior Chris Owens (knee) would be available against Tennessee, but Alabama will go with the same five offensive line from the Texas A&M game with redshirt junior Landon Dickerson at center.

• Per the SEC blog from SEC Media Days, Alabama coach Kristy Curry was all smiles during the Crimson Tide’s visit to Birmingham. The Crimson Tide returns nine of the team's top 10 scorers, who were responsible for 84 percent of Alabama's points. "This is a league of experience," Curry said. "That's why we're so excited.” Curry also called Cierra Johnson and Jordan Lewis "a pretty special backcourt"

• Alabama announced it has partnered with KultureCity to make Bryant-Denny Stadium sensory inclusive. Sensory bags, equipped with noise canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads will also be available to guests at Bryant-Denny Stadium with sensory needs who may feel overwhelmed by the environment. They’ll be available on gamedays in Section K, Section SS-10, and Section NN-11.

• During ESPN’s coverage of the UCLA-Stanford game on Thursday night, Molly McGrath shared something that got the attention of any Alabama fans watching: “I talked to a couple of Tennessee’s players. They’re very confident. They said this doesn’t look like an Alabama team that can win a national championship.”

• We’ll leave you with this … (Congratulations to the Saban and Setas families).

On this date in Crimson Tide history:

October 18, 1986: Running Bobby Humphrey had 217 rushing yards on 27 carries and three touchdowns to lead Alabama to a 56-28 win over Tennessee. He was subsequently named the SEC Player of the Week. … Also, legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson was born on this day in Roopville, Ga., in 1928.

Crimson Tide quote of the day:

“I remember when Alabama came to the Rose Bowl [stadium] to play UCLA [in 2000], and several of the Alabama players came and had their sit-down with Keith Jackson. And I remember distinctly, one of the tailbacks, I remember he walked out of the interview with Keith, and he said to a bunch of his buddies that were waiting in the hall, ‘I just spoke with the voice of God.’”– broadcaster Todd Harris
