• The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program flew to middle America on Friday to take on the Bluejays tomorrow. Nate Oats and the team are looking for a top-10 win to try to bounce back and jump-start the rest of the season.

• Herb Jones makes a business decision in his team's matchup against Brandon Miller and the Hornets. The Pelicans won 112-107. Jones scored 11 points with two rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block. Miller scored 16 points with four rebounds, three assists and a steal. 

• Alabama basketball prospect Derrion Reid announced Dec. 22 as his new commitment date. The 5-star rescheduled his commitment once already but still considers the Tide a top candidate for his services in 2024-25.

• Former Alabama baseball player Brett Booth won his first professional MMA-fight in Florida on Saturday night by way of knockout. 

• Alabama right tackle JC Latham took time out of his day to spend time with the Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama on Friday.

On This Day in Crimson Tide History:

December 16, 1988: Award-winning linebacker Derrick Thomas had a whirlwind day, traveling to Cincinnati to accept the trophy as CBS's Defensive Player of the Year and then Washington, D.C. to accept the Pigskin Club's Award as the nation's best lineman/linebacker. The subsequent day he returned to Tuscaloosa to travel with the team to El Paso for the Sun Bowl, where Alabama would face Army. – Bryant Museum.
