• Former Alabama wide receiver and coach Ray Perkins was named to the Southeastern Conference’s 2019 Football Legends Class. Perkins lettered from 1964-66 as a wide receiver on three SEC championship teams and won two national titles. As a senior, he caught 33 passes for 490 yards and seven touchdowns, earning All-American honors as he capped his final season with 178 yards receiving in the Crimson Tide's 34-7 Sugar Bowl win over Nebraska. Perkins succeeded Paul "Bear" Bryant as Alabama's head coach, compiling a 32-15-1 record and three bowl victories from 1983-86.

• We’ll leave you with this …

On this date in Crimson Tide history:

September 27, 1958: Paul W. “Bear” Bryant's first game as the Alabama head coach occurred at Ladd Field in Mobile, where the Crimson Tide lost to eventual national champion LSU, 13-3. Alabama led 3-0 at halftime on a field goal by Fred Sington, Jr., the first points of the Bryant era. The game is also remembered for part of the stadium collapsing during the game.

Crimson Tide quote of the day:

“It feels like everything's just flown by. Time flies.” – Former Alabama safety Jarrick Williams as a senior in 2014. He turns 28 today.
