DeVonta Smith is the Bama Central Crimson Tide Athlete of the Week

Smith broke both the Alabama program record and SEC record for most career touchdown receptions

Alabama football senior wide receiver DeVonta Smith is the Bama Central Crimson Tide Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 16-22.

In the Crimson Tide's 63-3 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, Smith brought in nine receptions on 13 targets for 144 yards and two touchdowns.

On top of a solid performance, Smith's first touchdown of the game early in the second quarter made him the all-time Alabama program leader in receiving touchdowns with 32, breaking former Crimson Tide wideout Amari Cooper's record of 31.

Later on in the third quarter, Smith added his second touchdown of the game to his tally, bringing the new record up to 33. With a minimum of three games left in the season plus the potential for a College Football Playoff berth, it will be interesting to see how many more touchdowns Smith can add to his total.

Smith's touchdowns also break the all-time SEC record shared by Cooper and former Florida wide receiver Chris Doering.

Congratulations to Smith for such a career milestone and stellar performance.
