Fouts' Heroics, Four-Run Ninth Inning Lift No. 13 Alabama Softball Over Missouri in Game 2
Last night, Alabama Softball scored all four of its runs on one swing from Larissa Preuitt.
On Saturday, the Crimson Tide (26-10, 4-4 SEC) scored all four of its runs in the ninth inning to take Game 2 over the Missouri Tigers — winning 4-0 again at Mizzou Softball Stadium in Columbia.
RHP Montana Fouts has been exceptional this weekend after struggling in Knoxville last weekend. Fouts has thrown 16 scoreless innings the last two days.
Nine of those innings came on Saturday. Fouts allowed five hits and two walks on 131 pitches — without allowing a run. She struck out 14 Missouri hitters.
The Crimson Tide offense couldn't do much for the majority of the contest — until the ninth. Ashley Prange homered to open the extra inning. Then, hits from Kenleigh Cahalan and Bailey Dowling extended the lead.
Alabama had opportunities throughout. The Crimson Tide left nine runners on base. The Tigers (21-16, 1-10 SEC) stranded seven.
With the win, Alabama moves to .500 in SEC play — good for seventh in the league. Missouri remains in last place in the conference.
Alabama will go for the series sweep on Sunday afternoon in Game 3. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
