It's the best time of year for college baseball.

Following a 55-game regular season dating back to Feb. 17, the Alabama Crimson Tide now opens postseason play at the 2023 SEC Baseball Tournament from May 23-28 in Hoover, Ala.

The Crimson Tide (38-17, 16-14 SEC) goes into the tournament as the conference's No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 seed Kentucky on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. CT.

Alabama dropped two of three games to the Wildcats in Tuscaloosa March 24-26.

The Crimson Tide finished in a three-way-tie with Tennessee and Kentucky but got the short-end of the stick due to tiebreaker rules.

All games will be on the SEC Network other than the championship game on May 28 — which will broadcast on ESPN2.

Tuesday's games are single-elimination. After that, the tournament moves to double-elimination.

The previous two national champions of the sport, Mississippi State and Ole Miss, both missed the field.

The Crimson Tide finished its season in style — sweeping Ole Miss at Sewell-Thomas Stadium over the weekend. Alabama went 8-2 down the stretch after firing former head coach Brad Bohannon.

The 16 conference wins for the Crimson Tide are the most since 2014 for the program. Alabama remains on the bubble to host a regional in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2006.

Needless to say, it's been a banner year for the program — which is playing some of the best baseball of any team in the country at the moment.
