No. 14 Alabama Softball Splits Doubleheader with South Carolina

The Crimson Tide missed the chance for a home series sweep against the Gamecocks on Saturday.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — After winning the first two games of the the series, Alabama softball couldn't complete the sweep against South Carolina.

After the Crimson Tide took Game 1 of the series on Thursday night, Montana Fouts threw her second no-hitter of season as Alabama opened the Saturday doubleheader with a 4-0 victory.

It was the fourth no-hitter of her career, and 44th in program history. The win was also the 90th of Fouts’ career.

But the Crimson Tide came up short in the series finale, 3-1.

An Ashley Prange solo home run in the third inning tied it at 1-1 before the Gamecocks (27-11, 4-8 SEC) regained the lead in the next half-inning with a two-run home run by Jordan Fabian.

Eight different Alabama (28-12, 6-6 SEC) players earned a hit across the doubleheader, including two from Ally Shipman.

Prange’s solo home run improved her team-leading season total to 12, while Larissa Preuitt improved her hitting streak to five games.
