TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— On Sunday night, as the No. 16 Alabama soccer team looks to end its 2023 home slate with a victory, seven players will be recognized as part of senior night festivities.

Marianna Annest, Tanna Sanchez-Carreto, Felicia Knox, Dylan Pixton, Gessica Skorka, Itala Gemelli and Kate Henderson are all being honored. In addition to that, the Crimson Tide is facing Mississippi State in the second-to-last matchup of the regular season. If victorious, Alabama would extend its home unbeaten streak, dating back to 2021, to 29 matches. That stretch would also technically extend in the event of a fifth Crimson Tide draw.

Alabama (10-3-4) has won two straight matches. It beat LSU 4-1 on Oct. 13 then downed Ole Miss 1-0 this past Thursday. The LSU contest was just the kind of offensive day the Crimson Tide needed at the time. It resulted in an influx of energy which carried over into another positive outcome against Ole Miss, in which Gemelli recorded her second goal of the campaign. Mississippi State was on the list of teams Alabama beat in its perfect SEC regular season in 2022.

The Bulldogs sit at 9-3-4, strikingly similar to the Crimson Tide's mark, save for the 10th win. With three victories and two draws, Mississippi State is unbeaten in its past five outings. Confidence figures to be high. On the other hand, if the past two seasons are any indication, winning at Alabama is a tall task. The Bulldogs have also not done battle with a team that is currently ranked. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. CT.
