Live Updates: No. 9 Alabama Soccer at Kentucky

The Crimson Tide seeks its first SEC road win of the season.

Last Sunday, the No. 9 Alabama soccer team got just what it needed in the form of its first conference win of the season against Vanderbilt. In a rare regular season Friday contest, the Crimson Tide can make it two in a row at Kentucky.

Alabama (7-1-4) rebounded from being blown out against Arkansas on Sept. 21 with a statement victory, but draws unbeaten Kentucky as its next test.

The Wildcats (6-0-4) have yet to notch a win in conference play. Still, a side unbeaten through 10 matches is no easy task.

Kentucky has drawn thrice in league play without surrendering more than one goal per match. On one hand, as the Crimson Tide well knows, ties are no one's favorite. However, it's hard not to feel good when one just faced defending SEC tournament champ South Carolina and Florida in back-to-back matches and only let up one goal.

Alabama has scored just one goal in its last two. That was enough to win last weekend. The road environment adds a new wrinkle to Friday's match. A successful road team, the Crimson Tide has showed impressive poise in hostile territory. That could be burdened, though, by the fact that Alabama was beaten by Arkansas away from home.

Kickoff for the match is at 7 p.m. CT. The Wildcats can knock the Crimson Tide out of the top 10 by defending home field. Kentucky may also cement its own spot in the rankings with a marquee victory.
