DeVonta Smith only Alabama player named Midseason First-Team All-American by Associated Press
Although the Associated Press voters have Alabama No. 1 in the Top 25 poll, they apparently aren't as impressed with how well the Crimson Tide has played individually.
Junior wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who is leading the Crimson Tide in receiving, was the lone first-team pick in the midseason All-American team named Tuesday morning.
Against Ole Miss, Smith had a career-high 11 receptions for a school-record 274 yards, all while tying an SEC record with five receiving scores. He leads the Crimson Tide with 38 receptions for 636 yards and nine touchdowns.
Overall, Alabama had four players selected with three on the second-team: junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, junior wide receiver Jerry Juedy and junior offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr.
Alabama had four players named to the AP preseason All-American team, with Jeudy, defensive lineman Raekwon Davis and linebacker Dylan Moses all on on the first team. Tagovailoa was a second-team selection.
Moses suffered a knee injury before the season began.
