Nate Oats Named to Naismith Men’s Coach of the Year Late Season Watch List
Alabama men's basketball head coach Nate Oats has been named to the late season watch list for the 2023 Werner Ladder Naismith Men's Coach of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Friday.
Oats is one of 15 coaches from across the nation, and one of two head coaches in the Southeastern Conference (Dennis Gates, Missouri) who was honored with the recognition.

- Second time in the last three seasons Oats has been named to the Naismith Men’s Coach of the Year Watch List (Finished as a Top-4 finalist in 2021)
- Has guided Alabama to a 22-4 overall record and a 12-1 mark in Southeastern Conference play in his fourth season at The Capstone
- Alabama currently ranked No. 1 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 for the second time in program history
- The Crimson Tide is currently ranked No. 1 in the USA Today Coaches Poll for the first time in program history
- Projected as a No. 1 seed in this year's NCAA Tournament, which would be the first time in program history
- He has a record of 83-40 (.675) across his four years at the Capstone and a 45-22 (.672) mark against SEC competition.
