Roger Hoover of Crimson Tide Sports Network on The Joe Gaither Show

The velvet voice of the Crimson Tide Sports Network joins us to talk all things Alabama Athletics on The Joe Gaither Show | Episode 81: Sept. 13, 2023

It's a happy humpday on "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" as we welcome in Alabama athletics expert Roger Hoover to talk Crimson Tide football, Eli Gold and more.

Hoover opens up the show by giving everyone an update on Gold's return to the broadcast booth after battling cancer and missing the 2022 season. 

We then move into a primarily football driven discussion as Hoover provides some levity that the show has been missing over the last two days. He points out some of the areas that need to be cleaned up for Alabama going forward, but reminds us that Saturday's loss to Texas really boiled down to a small handful of plays. Had the plays flipped in Alabama's favor the Crimson Tide faithful may still be celebrating today.

We got a small preview on South Florida as the Tide must turn its attention quickly to the American Conference foe. The Bulls have a first-year head coach who hit the transfer portal hard in order to rebuild the USF roster after going 1-11 a season ago.

How can playing USF benefit the Tide down the road?

The Tide has a lot to improve on through two weeks, however, the good news is that seems to be a theme throughout the Southeastern Conference. 

The discussion pivots to Alabama's changing football philosophy as the program's scheduled many high-profile home-and-home matchups in the future. What's it like for the Crimson Tide Sports Network to go to historic venues on college campuses?

Hoover then tells our audience about the other sports at the Capstone as he's involved with all the Alabama athletics program. He discusses his love for NASACAR and tells us what he does when he gets a free Sunday.
