Last week, it happened. After a short period of rumors, star wide receiver Ryan Williams recommitted to play college football at Alabama as a member of the Crimson Tide.

Williams, a product of in-state Saraland, initially decommitted the same day that former head coach Nick Saban retired. It became a major priority for new coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff to regain the services of Williams. The young talent widely regarded as a can't-miss prospect made it official last Wednesday, moments after the Alabama men's basketball team defeated Auburn.

It goes without saying that this is a major pickup. Some have labeled it a defining moment in DeBoer's tenure. While it's far too early to make a pronouncement holding that amount of weight, having Williams as part of one's roster is a development that is indeed massive.

This time, Williams is locked in. He was at the Crimson Tide's men's basketball game against LSU this weekend, interacting with students and fans. There's significant buzz surrounding him, and this didn't change with his initial decommitment. He was a target of Auburn, an institution hot on the recruiting trail entering year two with Hugh Freeze at the helm. Alabama fans wanted him back in the worst of ways, and those wishes were granted.

Time will tell how the remaining initial stages of DeBoer's time as Alabama's new football coach play out. There have been a lot of changes, but the Crimson Tide was able to secure a huge part of its immediate future.
