The Extra Point: Rapid Reaction to Denver Jones Including Alabama in Finalists

The Crimson Tide made the final six for FIU transfer Denver Jones. How could he fit into Nate Oats' system?
In this story:

On Thursday, April 6, Denver Jones announced his top 6 transfer destinations, with Alabama making the cut.

Jones, who was originally from Alabama, had played 2 seasons at FIU before entering the transfer portal. He averaged 12.5 ppg, 3.7 reb, and 2.3 ast in his first year, shooting 34.5 percent from 3 and 38.8 percent from the field.

In year 2, Jones averaged 20.1 ppg, 3.8 reb, and 2 ast, shooting 37.1 percent from 3 and 47.8 percent from the field. Jones was the leading scorer for FIU this season, who finished 6th in the C-USA.

"Alabama is losing a lot of guard play with JQ entering the draft, Nimari Burnett transferred, Dom Welch is leaving, and Jaden Bradley is in the transfer portal now," Mason Smith.

"I think he can be a one-two punch with Jones and Mark Sears. Brandon Miller was the leading scorer, with Mark Sears as the second, but now that level of scoring is not going to be there with just one player. I think Alabama is going to be much more balanced heading into next season, due to a lot of the key departures they had this past season."

Jones included two other SEC programs in his final 6, Auburn and LSU. He has not yet announced a commitment date.
