The Extra Point: What A-Day Means for Recruiting

With multiple high profile recruits coming to Tuscaloosa for A-Day, the importance of this game goes beyond the on-field performance.
In this story:

Alabama's A-Day game is an opportunity for fans and coaches alike to see the Crimson Tide in action at Bryant-Denny stadium for the first time this season.

While people will be excited to see which quarterback plays better, or how the defense will look, another big aspect of A-Day will be recruiting.

Several key Alabama recruits will come to Tuscaloosa, including three signees from the 2023 class, three 5-Star commits from the 2024 class, and eight total 5-Star players from the 2025 class.

With all this talent coming to see Tuscaloosa, the A-Day game will showcase somewhat of what an Alabama gameday will be like. The game itself will show recruits what their potential roles on the field will be by the time they get to campus.

With there being so few opportunities for high school players to really see the Alabama facilities and what the atmosphere is like on a gameday, A-Day provides them with a unique look at it all.

Some key guys that will be visiting this weekend include: Keon Kelly, a 5-Star edge rusher in the 2023 class, Julian Sayin who is a 5-Star quarterback in the 2024 class, and Ryan Williams, a 5-Star receiver in the 2025 class.

Another area where the spring game is important for recruiting is in the meeting these recruits can have with coaches. A total of 24 players will come to A-Day, and that means they can have conversations with positions coaches, coordinators, or other members on the staff.

While many eyes will be on the field for A-Day, it is never too early to get a look at some of the recruits that will be coming to town this weekend.
