The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral: Episode 28, June 28, 2023
June is winding down but the summer is heating up on "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral".
Wednesday's show starts with a sad story that touches everyone involved in the SEC. We send thoughts and prayers out to Ryan Mallet's family and the Arkansas community as he tragically lost his life on Tuesday.
The program then vaults into the two main sports topics in the Crimson Tide corner of the world and both revolved around the Bama basketball program. The Crimson Tide received its matchup for this year's inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge and it is not exciting at all.
Why did the schedule makers pair us with a program that didn't even make the NCAA Tournament last year? Alabama should dominate its opponent in the challenge this season, but there were several better options that could have been put on Bama's plate.
The program celebrates the official announcement from Grant Nelson, declaring that he will be coming to Tuscaloosa to play for the Crimson Tide. Nelson penned a goodbye letter to North Dakota State University and told Jeff Goodman that he was set to transfer to the Capstone this fall.
Gaither closed the program talking Alabama football as BamaCentral's Austin Hannon wrote a preview piece on the Tide's opening opponent. What will the Blue Raiders be bringing to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 2? Can Alabama really prepare for Texas by defeating Middle Tennessee State University?
We can't wait to close down the week on "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" as Thursday's show will feature former Alabama wide receiver Mac Hereford and Friday's program will feature popular Alabama Twitter celebrity Hunter Johnson.
