It was a quick Friday edition of "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" as we discussed Nick Saban's favorite cake, which quarterbacks have the right ingredients and what's on tap for Alabama's recruiting weekend.

Saban told the media, without telling the media, on Wednesday to avoid asking about the Alabama quarterback battle.

He prepared the college football world for a fall camp full of cake references as the battle takes place inside the oven of the Mal Moore Athletic Facility.

While Saban was highlighting carrot cake as his favorite, we examine what ingredients are paramount to winning over this Alabama football team.

Alabama's head coach spent some time on SiriusXM radio discussing his strategy for testing the quarterbacks through fall camp and we talked about the advantages to his approach.

The program pivoted to focus on recruiting as Alabama picked up a punter out of Northridge High School. The Crimson Tide kept things rolling in the afternoon with a second local product, securing the commitment of Brookwood's William Sanders.

The program landed on former Alabama golfer Justin Thomas as his streak of poor play continued at The Open this week. What will it take for Thomas to fix his game and find his confidence?
