2023 NFL Draft Profile: Alabama Offensive Lineman Kendall Randolph
He was the last remaining player from one of Alabama football's epic recruiting classes.
In 2017, the Crimson Tide landed eight players who would be first-round selections in the NFL draft, including a Heisman Trophy winner, DeVonta Smith.
Running back Najee Harris was considered the top prospect, but the was two future NFL starting quarterbacks in Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones, tackler Jedrick Wills Jr., and fellow wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III.
(There was also the likes of safety Xavier McKinney and and running back Brian Robinson Jr.).
Among the list of additions on the offensive line, behind Alex Leatherwood, was Kendall Randolph, a consensus 4-star prospect from Bob Jones High School in Madison, Ala.
Randolph would be a pure starter fro the Crimson Tide, but his versatility was crucial and he played at tackle, guard and tight end, plus special teams, in 53 career games.
“You know, our 2017 class definitely was memorable," he said. "So, you know, being a part of that class and, you know, I’m definitely happy to be a part of that class. You know, I still stay in contact with some of the guys and, you know, I’m glad they’re still able to do with it with the next level so it’s been outstanding.”
Last season was pretty typical of Randolph's contributions, playing in all 13 games with three starts, including two at left guard and one at tight end. He notched 10 knockdown blocks and was widely praised by the coaching staff.
However, he did take some ribbing from teammates from being the old man of the Crimson Tide.
“I think one time we talked about what year we were born, and I was hearing some guys say they were born in like 2003 or like 200. And they said, ‘Kendall, what year were you born?’ I said, ‘1998.’ They just made some comments about that, but it didn’t go to far.”

What They're Saying about Kendall Randolph
Nick Saban: "I really love it when guys like Kendall Randolph show great resiliency, perseverance to continue to want to try to develop as players, make a commitment to the team to do whatever you need to do to help the team be successful. This is one of the guys that I’m most proud of in terms of where he came from from when he was a young player to where he is now. To graduate, to become a leader, to set a really good example. To have sort of great goals and aspirations for what he wants to accomplish in the future and what his focus is and what his commitment is to it. I think this is a great example of what college football should be. He’s created a lot of value for himself here by what he’s developed into, and we’re really, really proud of him."
BamaCentral Analysis
Randolph's best shot to make an NFL team is to probably get on a practice squad and work his way up. It won't be easy, but his versatility will he his greatest asset as he can obviously line up just about anywhere along a line.
