Defensive Lineman A'Shawn Robinson Signing with New York Giants
Free agent defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson is signing a 1-year, $8 million deal with the New York Giants, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The former Los Angeles Ram joins a Giants defensive line loaded with talent, including edge rushers Kayvon Thibodeaux and Jihad Ward and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.
Robinson declared for free agency on March 13, after three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. The 28-year-old spent his first four seasons in the league with the Detroit Lions after they selected him with the 46th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Robinson becomes the fifth Crimson Tide product on the Giants as he joins offensive tackle Evan Neal, safeties Xavier McKinney and Landon Collins and fellow offseason free agent signee, center J.C. Hassenauer. Another member of the Giants who once dressed in crimson and white is head coach Brian Daboll, who was an offensive coordinator at Alabama during the 2017-18 season.
If they earn starting roles, Bama-on-Bama crimes will occur throughout training camp and practices as Robinson and Hassenauer will likely battle each other in the trenches.
In his 93 career regular season games (61 starts), Robinson has recorded 293 tackles, including 20 for loss, seven sacks and three forced fumbles.
Robinson was a major factor in the Rams 2021-22 Super Bowl run, as he finished with 22 tackles in four playoff games and a sack in the big game.
