How to Watch: No. 16 Alabama Baseball at the Frisco Classic
The Alabama baseball team’s run of playing in Double-A parks is not over yet, and in fact, the stakes in such games are getting higher. This weekend, the No. 16 Crimson Tide (9-0) travels to Texas to take on No. 20 Indiana, Arizona and No. 25 Dallas Baptist.
The games can be streamed on D1Baseball’s website with a paid subscription and will take place at Riders Field in Frisco, the home ballpark of the Texas League’s Frisco RoughRiders. The games can also be listened to on the Varsity Network app, the Crimson Tide Sports Network and Tide 100.9 FM. Friday’s first pitch is slated for 6 p.m. CT, followed by 4 p.m. first pitch times on Saturday and Sunday.
Friday and Sunday bring the first ranked matchups for Alabama in the Rob Vaughn era. Indiana (6-2), the team’s Friday opponent, was stunned by Purdue Fort Wayne on its home field on Tuesday, the same night the Crimson Tide beat UAB in extra innings at Regions Field behind timely power hitting and a great bullpen effort. Dallas Baptist, like Alabama, is one of the remaining unbeatens in college baseball.
The Patriots (8-0) have become one of the very best mid-major clubs in the sport, missing the NCAA Tournament just once since 2011 in years the event has been staged. While the program is not playing directly in the heart of home territory, the location of the Classic is ostensibly in Dallas Baptist’s favor. The Crimson Tide will match up with the home-state squad, which has scored double-digit runs in four of its past five games, on Sunday.
Arizona (4-4) is 2-2 against ranked opponents in 2024. It won an opening-weekend series against Northeastern, ranked 23rd at the time, at home. A loss against top-five TCU served as the Wildcats’ most recent outing. Arizona plays against Alabama on Saturday.
