Instant Analysis: Alabama 8, Boston College 0

The Crimson Tide, coming off an improbable victory on Saturday, made sure that nothing would stop it from winning the Tuscaloosa Regional over Boston College.

It's been 13 years since the Alabama baseball program appeared in the NCAA Tournament Super Regional round.

The Crimson Tide dominated Boston College on Sunday 8-0 to win the NCAA Tournament Tuscaloosa Regional round and keep its post-season alive.

Alabama jumped all over the Eagles scoring four runs in the top of the first inning, setting the tone for the night and starting the party for the Crimson Tide.

Bama's bats sent all nine batters to the plate in the opening frame on just a single hit. Boston College starting pitcher Andrew Roman gave up three walks and hit two batters to allow the four-run frame.

Matthew Nunan came in to relieve Roman, but the damage had already been done. Nunan didn't fare much better as he only went a single inning, allowing one run off two hits and a walk.

Alabama DH Dominic Tamez doubled off of Nunan to score left fielder Tommy Seidl and extend the Tide's lead to 5-0 in the second inning.

Seidl added to his strong night in the third inning with a single that scored catcher Mac Guscette and pushed the Alabama lead to 6-0.

The Alabama offense was clicking on Sunday night but it was senior starting pitcher Jacob McNairy that enabled Alabama fans to breath easily throughout the game.

McNairy never allowed Boston College to get into the game, striking out 11 batters and only allowing three hits and three walks across nearly eight innings of scoreless work.

Sewell-Thomas Stadium gave McNairy a standing ovation for his efforts as he dominated the Eagles batters throughout the evening.

His performance landed McNairy on the Tuscaloosa Regional All-Tournament Team in his only outing of the weekend.

The last of the game's fireworks came in the eighth inning as Alabama plated two more on a Guscette single scoring pinch runner Bryce Eblin and Tamez.

Alabama interim head coach Jason Jackson gave the ball to senior Hunter Hoopes to close the game.

Hoopes did allow a walk and a single as Boston College fought to the end, but ultimately the right-hander nipped any rally hopes in the bud and preserved the Crimson Tide shutout.

Alabama advances to the Winston-Salem Super Regional against top-seeded Wake Forest beginning on Friday, June 9.

The teams will play a best two-of-three to advance to the College World Series.
