HOOVER, Ala. — Does it get any bigger than this?

Alabama. Auburn. For elimination — and maybe more.

The Crimson Tide (39-18, 16-14 SEC) was three outs away from clinching itself a hosting opportunity in the NCAA tournament — instead, BT Riopelle and top-seeded Florida sent Alabama to the loser's bracket to face a familiar foe.

The Tigers (34-20-1, 17-13 SEC) fell to No. 4 Vanderbilt late Wednesday night.

Both teams may be exhausted — but the juices are sure to be flowing just off the matchup alone.

The Crimson Tide won two out of three against Auburn in Tuscaloosa in mid-April. With both in-state teams playing each other at this stage of the SEC tournament, the Hoover Met will be quite the spectacle — covered in crimson, white, orange and blue on Thursday afternoon.

As of Thursday morning, D1Baseball has Alabama as the No. 11 overall seed in the NCAA tournament after its 1-1 start in Hoover.

RHP Garrett McMillan (3-2, 3.90 ERA) gets the ball for the Crimson Tide in the win-or-go-home contest. In his first start against the Tigers on April 15, McMillan threw five scoreless innings to lead Alabama to a victory. He allowed just one hit and struck out four.

First pitch is scheduled for approximately 1 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
