Live Updates: No. 1 Alabama Baseball vs. No. 4 Nicholls (Tuscaloosa Regional)

The hosting Crimson Tide opens the NCAA Tournament against the Colonels at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Seventeen years.

That's how long it's been since Alabama baseball hosted an NCAA regional in Tuscaloosa.

That all changes on Friday, when the 2023 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship comes to Sewell-Thomas Stadium for the Tuscaloosa Regional.

"We're really excited about getting the opportunity to host," interim head coach Jason Jackson said. "We have a great field — there's some really good baseball teams here."

"It means a lot, it means everything. As a coach and as a player, you work hard all year to get this opportunity. I think I'm just as excited for everyone that is involved in our program that has seen it continue to grow over the past few years, all the stuff that it's taken to get to this point. Happy for our staff, happy for these players and I'm really happy for everyone involved."
