The University of Alabama and head coach Nate Oats welcomed Ben Potts to Tuscaloosa to serve as a member of the Alabama basketball staff. Potts will serve as video coordinator for the Tide after serving in the same role with the Detroit Pistons last season.

"I am really excited to be at the University of Alabama and have the opportunity to work with Nate Oats ," Potts said via press release. "Coach Oats is one of the most respected coaches in the industry and it is going to be a pleasure being able to work and learn under him. I am excited to get to work with our amazing student-athletes and help them to be the best version of themselves while continuing to add to this winning culture."

Potts began his career as a team manager at the University of Colorado and worked his way into a graduate assistant role with the Buffaloes. He was part of the Colorado staff that made an appearance in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

"We are excited to welcome Ben to our staff," Oats said. "He is coming highly recommended from the NBA. We were looking for someone with NBA experience to add to our staff who can further our development as a program playing an NBA-style modern system. Ben is an extremely hard worker who is self-motivated and can relate well to our guys as he himself was a college basketball player not too long ago. He is a high character individual that we're ecstatic about adding to our staff."

Throughout his coaching career he's helped several NBA players develop their skills. He helped Derrick White and Jabari Walker while at Colorado, and worked specifically with Alec Burks and 2022 All-Rookie team member Jalen Duran with the Pistons.
