The latest addition to the Alabama basketball non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season includes a familiar face, with former assistant coach Bryan Hodgson and the Arkansas State Red Wolves set to visit Coleman Coliseum on Dec. 4.

Hodgson was a longtime assistant under Alabama head coach Nate Oats while at Buffalo, and came with Oats to Tuscaloosa where he spent the past four seasons. He was the Crimson Tide's lead recruiter on the staff during his tenure.

After Alabama fell in the Sweet Sixteen to conclude the 2022-23 season, Hodgson took the vacant head coaching position at Arkansas State.

The Red Wolves are a talented mid-major team thanks to the roster reconstruction Hodgson has accomplished in just one offseason, and they add to the challenging non-conference schedule that Oats has become well-known for crafting each and every year.

Alabama also has non-conference games against major powers in Purdue, Creighton and Arizona, to go along with a trip to Florida for the Emerald Coast Classic during Thanksgiving week.

Other mid-majors the Crimson Tide will face in 2023-24 include South Alabama, Indiana State and Mercer. There is also a game against Liberty in Birmingham for the C.M. Newton Classic, and a home game against Clemson for the inaugural SEC/ACC Challenge.

Alabama has yet to release its full non-conference slate, but with only a few games left to be announced and schedules around the country being released every day, one would expect the full slate to drop in the coming weeks.
