The 2023-24 college basketball season is getting closer by the day, and the closer it gets, the more schedule news gets revealed.

The latest of that news is Alabama's season-opener for 2023-24, which will be the Morehead State Eagles of the Ohio Valley Conference on Monday, Nov. 6 inside Coleman Coliseum.

Last season, the Eagles went 22-12 overall and 14-4 in conference, missing the NCAA Tournament in the seventh season under head coach Preston Spradlin. Morehead State last made the tournament in 2021, where it lost in the first round as a 14-seed.

This will be the second-ever meeting between these two schools, with Alabama winning the only previous meeting 82-64 on Dec. 23, 2002, in Coleman Coliseum.

While Morehead State is no slouch of a mid-major program, it is certainly one of the weaker teams on Alabama's non-conference schedule that also features games against Creighton on the road, Arizona in Phoenix, and Purdue in Toronto.

Alabama will play in the Emerald Coast Classic on Thanksgiving week, playing Ohio State in the first round and concluding with either the winner or loser of Oregon/Santa Clara.

Rounding out the announced non-conference games are home games against South Alabama, Mercer, Indiana State, and SEC/ACC Challenge opponent Clemson. There are still a few more games to be announced before the schedule is complete, including the opponent of the annual C.M. Newton Classic in Birmingham.
