LEXINGTON, Ky. — Alabama basketball will be shorthanded for the second consecutive game, as starting guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr. will be out for the Crimson Tide's game against Kentucky, per a UA spokesperson.

Wrightsell did not make the trip to Lexington.

The senior guard suffered a head injury during practice on Monday, which caused him to also miss Wednesday's home game against Florida. After the game, Alabama head coach Nate Oats considered him 'day-to-day.'

Wrightsell was moved into the Crimson Tide starting lineup roughly a month ago after coming off the bench for the first two months of the season, and provided a spark as Oats started to key on using small-ball lineups.

His production has been an x-factor for Alabama all season. The Crimson Tide is undefeated in games where Wrightsell scores at least 10 points.

On the season, Wrightsell averages 9.0 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, and 1.5 assists per game. He is currently shooting 44.5 percent from beyond the arc, which is second on the Alabama team and a top-10 mark in the SEC.

Wrightsell has also been one of Alabama's better perimeter defenders this season, which makes its matchup against an uber-talented Kentucky backcourt that much more difficult. On Friday, Oats said Kentucky had one of the most talented backcourts in not only the SEC, but all of college basketball.

"Kentucky's backcourt is one of the most talented in the country," Oats said. "Our guards that are trying to prove they belong at the next level have a great opportunity to guard future pros."

Tipoff for No. 13 Alabama and No. 17 Kentucky is set for 3 p.m. CT on CBS.
