Alabama Guard Named SEC Co-Player of the Week
The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program won its fifth game in a row on Saturday over the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Crimson Tide is one of two unbeaten teams in Southeastern Conference play and a lot of Alabama's success can be attributed to strong guard play.
Senior guard Mark Sears was recognized by the SEC this week as Co-Player of the Week for his strong outings against South Carolina and Mississippi State. He shares the honor with Tennessee's Dalton Knecht.
Sears averaged 26.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in wins over South Carolina and at Mississippi State. His 31 points against South Carolina marked his second time eclipsing the 30-point mark in a game this season.
Through 16 games in 2023-24 he's averaging 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals as arguably the Crimson Tide's most important player.
